Outreach Coordinator - Kansas City's Medicine Cabinet

The Organization
Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation was established in May 2003 with the assets from two former foundations, Baptist Medical Center Foundation and Trinity Lutheran Hospital Foundation. One component of BTLLF’s mission is "to provide support in the greater Kansas City area for crisis related medical assistance, neighborhood school health grants and health education programs and services". Our flagship program, Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet, works with community service organizations to provide financial assistance for medical needs such as dental care, diabetic supplies, durable medical equipment (including hearing aids), prescriptions and vision care.
 
Position Summary
The Outreach Coordinator expands Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet’s outreach programming, which was launched in June 2019. This position will be responsible for completing administrative tasks, providing intake for clients and nurturing partnerships with organizations to ensure clients' access to KCMC services. The individual in this role must be committed to the goals of the organization and be able to articulate those goals and the missions of the Foundation and its flagship program, Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide intake at remote sites, including needs assessment, verification of eligibility and issuing vouchers
  • Coordinate with KCMC staff and partners on planning, communications and execution of outreach efforts
  • Execute outreach action plan with the goal of increasing numbers of partners and individuals served
  • Research, identify, develop and promote opportunities to establish outreach partnerships with non-profits
  • Train and oversee outreach program volunteers
  • Develop fresh content for promotional materials, and update web content and social media
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to Board leadership and community organizations, as needed
  • Maintain appropriate paper and electronic records; produce reports as necessary
  • Write and maintain program, data management and reporting procedures
  • Represent BTLLF at meetings, health fairs and other events as needed
  • Attend staff meetings, other administrative meetings and events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the KCMC Program Director and BTLLF Executive Director
 
Qualifications & Characteristics
  • BA required; MA in related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated leadership in program outreach required
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred; Proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite required
  • Excellent customer service and cultural competency skills; strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and task-focused
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and meet critical deadlines
  • Displays good judgment and critical thinking skills; works well independently and takes initiative
  • Responsive to direction and feedback; comfortable working in a collaborative environment
  • Must have own vehicle, valid KS or MO Driver's License, current insurance coverage, clean driving record
 
Work Environment
  • This position is based in a professional and fully accessible office; however, this role requires frequent travel to and operations at sites across the region during the week, evenings and weekends
  • This role uses standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, scanners and printers)
  • The position is required to talk, hear, stand and walk, and to handle, feel and reach. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally objects up to 40 pounds
  • Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment 
Work Schedule and Benefits
  • Office hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; evening/weekend work estimated at 20 hours/month
  • Nine paid holidays, personal time off and extended medical leave
  • Starting salary: $40,000-$45,000, plus competitive benefits package
