Part-Time Mental Health Clinician

Position Description:

Provides trauma informed counseling and care coordination to clients who meet eligibility requirements at Thrive Health Connection and throughout the Kansas City Transitional Grant Area (KCTGA). Works cooperatively with Kansas City Missouri Health Department and other sub-recipients, as well as with H&R Block Foundation, to ensure delivery of quality services.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to all eligible individuals seeking mental health services.

  • Provide crisis intervention and support to all individuals regardless of eligibility for Part A Mental Health services.

  • Complete home and community visits with individuals.

  • Work collaboratively with KCHD and other sub-recipients in the KCTGA as well as with secondary funder, H&R Block Foundation.

  • Collect and enter data into statewide client level database.

  • Maintain client records as outlined by funding contracts.

  • Assess eligibility and ensure Ryan White is payor of last resort.

  • Promote increased enrollment into mental health program regardless of insurance status.

  • Monitor care and implement corrective action plans as needed.

  • Participate in Service Excellence (Quality Improvement) efforts at Thrive Health Connection and throughout KCTGA.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:           

  • Licensed Mental Health Clinician, preferably LCSW or LPC.

  • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ community preferred.

  • Fluency in Spanish as a second language preferred.

  • Knowledge of HIV and STI risk behaviors, human sexuality, and social determinants of health.

  • Must be comfortable with a sex positive approach to counseling and education.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to function as an individual contributor as well as in a team environment.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Professional demeanor.

  • Effective organizational skills.     

  • Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner with clients and staff members.

  • Sensitivity to all areas of diversity, not limited to, HIV status, color, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran status and gender identity.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

The organization recently underwent an exciting transformation, reinvigorating its brand while continuing to provide high-quality free HIV/STI testing and education for the community as well as case management and mental health services for our clients.
