Residence Operations Assistant
The Residential Operations Assistant supports the daily operations of two residential facilities by ensuring the efficient and smooth running of the properties. This role involves a blend of administrative tasks, hands-on support, and direct client interaction. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and dedicated to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents. People with lived experience of incarceration are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Residence Well-Being: Residence Operations Assistants build positive mentoring relationships with residents. The foundation of this relationship is trust, which requires staff to ensure the resident’s confidentiality and safety.
- Oversee Daily Operations: Residence Operations Assistants ensure that the household is running smoothly while on shift. This includes overseeing grocery shopping, ensuring there is enough food for residents and that it is properly stored, managing the petty cash, overseeing food donations, and reports.
- Professionalism: Residence Operations Assistants communicate well with coworkers and residents. They respond to their voicemails, texts, emails, and messages in Teams each day they are on shift.
- Residence Support and Teamwork: Residence Operations Assistants work collectively with each other, the Case Managers, the Residence Director, other staff at JTNL and community partners. It is important that they work well with others, communicate clearly, and take on a fair share of the workload. This includes stepping in to assist with morning client transport, intake for new residents, and transportation to monthly social events.
- Data Entry: Residence Operations Assistants complete all the data entry of services and recovery meetings. This is provided daily, and entry should be completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Facility Safety and Maintenance: Residence Operations Assistants help with the coordination of property safety and upkeep to ensure there is a safe environment for residents. This includes setting the alarm each day, performing a perimeter safety check each shift, reporting needed repairs, and assisting with the coordination of property upkeep including landscaping, snow removal, pest control, etc.
- Community Garden: Assisting with the organization and upkeep of the community garden. This includes watering, planting, weeding, harvesting, and winterizing etc. As well as collaborating with our community garden partnerships and engaging residents participation.

- Personality traits: Empathetic, kind, open-minded, and willing to learn new skills. It is important for Peer Advocates to have a positive and up-lifting personality. They must be able to cultivate a warm, safe, trusting, and positive energy throughout the house.
- Must provide your own reliable transportation
- Must be willing to fulfill job description for two (2) facilities
- High school diploma or GED, bachelors degree preferred
- Must complete Peer Support Certification within the first 6 months
- Must complete CPR Certification within the first 6 months
- Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
- Familiarity with the legal system and how to support people in re-entry
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Moderate computer literacy
- An understanding of substance abuse problems and treatments
- Ability to use peer support tools to lead groups and provide one-on-one support to residents
- Ability to facilitate access to local community-based resources
- Ability to lift 40lbs
- Experience with individuals who have been involved in the legal system
- Awareness of the importance of recovery services
- If in recovery, able to demonstrate at least 1 year of continuous sobriety
- Preference given to persons formerly incarcerated
- Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
- In addition to the weekly shift, the Residence Operations Assistant must provide transportation to two social events each month. These are planned the month prior and land on different days and times of the month.
- Health Insurance Stipend: JTNL provides a monthly health insurance stipend of up to $500. This stipend can be used to cover the costs of health, dental, and vision insurance.

- Paid Time Off: JTNL provides paid time off (PTO) to help employees balance their work and personal lives. Full-time employees are eligible for 22 days of PTO in their first three years.
- Holidays: JTNL grants employees 10 paid holidays per year, plus the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
- Retirement Plan: JTNL partners with T. Rowe Price to help employees plan for their future with a retirement plan and aims to provide an employee match beginning in 2026.
- Life Insurance & Supplemental Insurance: JTNL provides each full-time employee with $15,000 in life insurance and $15,000 in AD&D insurance through Principal Life Insurance Company. Additionally, employees can obtain supplemental insurance, such as disability or rental insurance.
