Contract Position: Victim Services Social Worker
Type: Part-Time Independent Contractor (Up to 20 hours per week)
Duration: 10 Weeks
Location: Greater Kansas City Metro Area; Hybrid
Compensation: $50-60 per hour based on experience

On Call Compensation: Social Workers will receive an on-call stipend of $2.00 per hour for scheduled on-call hours. Any time spent actively responding to calls, providing services, or completing related work will be compensated at the applicable hourly rate.


Organization

Value Unconditional is a Christian ministry and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing free victim services to adults seeking healing from sexual violence and childhood trauma. The organization provides three primary programs including restorative, education, and advocacy services.

Position Summary

Value Unconditional is seeking a highly qualified and resource-connected Social Worker to provide short-term support to the Advocacy Program. This contract position will work directly alongside advocacy staff to support victims and survivors of sexual exploitation, sextortion, and sex trafficking throughout the Greater Kansas City Metro Area.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of community resources, victim service systems, crisis intervention, case management, and trauma-informed care. This individual will assist in identifying and addressing survivor needs, connecting clients to appropriate services, reducing barriers to stability and safety, and strengthening support pathways for individuals impacted by exploitation and trafficking.

A primary focus of this role is resource navigation, client stabilization, and case management support. The successful candidate will help survivors identify immediate needs, access critical services, overcome barriers, and build sustainable support systems that promote safety, healing, and long-term stability.

The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional professionalism, compassion, discretion, and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality while working with highly vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client support, resource navigation, and case management assistance for victims and survivors of sexual exploitation, sextortion, and sex trafficking.

  • Conduct needs assessments and assist clients in developing individualized service and stabilization plans.

  • Connect clients to housing, healthcare, mental health services, substance use treatment, transportation, food assistance, employment services, legal resources, financial assistance programs, and victim compensation resources.

  • Support victims upon dispatch at local hospitals and law enforcement patrol stations and other locations as needed (and assist with dispatching as needed) 

  • Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal resources available to survivors.

  • Collaborate closely with Value Unconditional advocacy staff to address immediate and ongoing client needs.

  • Assist clients in navigating complex service systems and overcoming barriers to accessing care and support.

  • Support crisis response efforts and provide stabilization assistance when appropriate.

  • Coordinate with community partners, including nonprofits, healthcare providers, shelters, law enforcement agencies, and victim service organizations.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough client documentation and case notes.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations and collaborative problem-solving efforts.

  • Provide recommendations regarding resource gaps, service coordination improvements, and client support strategies.

  • Uphold all confidentiality requirements and professional ethical standards.

  • Represent Value Unconditional professionally and consistently support the organization’s mission and values.

Skills & Attributes

  • Extensive knowledge of community resources and referral networks throughout the Greater Kansas City area.

  • Strong understanding of trauma, victimization, exploitation, trafficking dynamics, and survivor-centered care.

  • Exceptional crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.

  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and resource-navigation abilities.

  • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and survivor-centered practices.

  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) required; Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) strongly preferred.

  • Active Missouri and/or Kansas social work licensure preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience serving victims of sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, sexual violence, domestic violence, child abuse, or related populations.

  • Demonstrated experience in case management, resource navigation, and community-based service coordination.

  • Strong knowledge of Kansas City area service providers and referral systems.

  • Experience collaborating with victim-serving organizations, healthcare systems, shelters, and law enforcement agencies.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards.

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Greater Kansas City Metro area as needed.
