Job Description
The Mattie Rhodes Center provides a holistic approach to individual and family well-being through social services, mental health counseling and the arts.  Our staff provides culturally competent programming in the following four areas:
• Family Services (behavioral health, family violence, substance abuse)
• Youth Services (in-school intervention, youth development, supportive living)
• Community Support (health and wellness, community engagement)
• Cultural Arts (arts education, exhibits and collections)
Mattie Rhodes is the only fully bilingual/bicultural state-certified behavioral health care provider in the Greater Kansas City region, and is state-certified in intensive outpatient substance abuse therapy.
Mattie Rhodes is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and is celebrating its 123rd year of serving the community.
Responsibilities:   The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for providing effective, quality youth development programming. This position supervises Youth Development staff in the implementation of applicable school, agency, youth development and grant regulations/standards in all programming; assists in record keeping for grant and evaluation purposes, facilitates partnerships with schools and other public and private agencies to recruit participants, and engages families. In addition, this position provides youth development services/activities to participants and in other agency-related youth programming and events as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that key data sources (i.e. completed registrations and waivers, questionnaires, assessments, player and coach data, attendance, activity summaries, etc.) are collected and maintained.
  • Monitor equipment and inventory.
  • Participates within professional and youth development trainings as required.
  • Participates in supervision and team meetings as required.
  • Responsible for facilitating the development of program curriculum in conjunction with Youth Development staff and working with Director of Youth & Young Adult Services to ensure that it is comprehensive, well rounded, age appropriate and promotes parental involvement.
  • Contribute to marketing and public relations efforts, including making connections for expanded youth opportunities. Represent Mattie Rhodes Center in the community at various events as assigned.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. The responsibilities of this position require a flexible work schedule.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BFA) or equivalent
  • Experience working with school-age children and young adults in out-of-school time or other teaching environments. Creativity, flexibility and strong character values necessary
  • Passion for youth development, urban education and art or sports (soccer)
  • Experience in a family service agency working with diverse urban populations
  • Ability to motivate others and work as part of a team
  • Flexibility and the ability to work independently
  • Supervisory experience
  • Computer Literate: MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation to program sites, clean driving record and obtain a CDL for the purpose of transporting youth development program participants to designated activities.
  • Two years or more of experience within a not for profit agency completing duties similar to those outlined.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Bilingual language ability.
  • Computer Literate: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator)
