Youth Recreational Advocate

Synergy Services mission is to strengthen the individual, family and community through prevention, crisis intervention, shelter, counseling, advocacy, and education. We have an immediate need for a Youth Recreation Advocate at Synergy House (our teen shelter) which is located at I-35 and Parvin Road in the Kansas City, Missouri Northland area. 

Shift hours are:
Sunday Off
Monday Off
Tuesday Off
Wednesday 6p-11p
Thursday 6p-11p
Friday 6p-11p
Saturday 6-11p


Our teen shelter is an emergency crisis shelter for teens 12-18 years of age, providing a caring, therapeutic environment. This position is responsible for providing a safe, structured, educational environment in a therapeutic setting. This position will plan recreational activities for youth residing at Synergy House, our teen emergency shelter.  Assists with answering the youth crisis line, provides support and advocacy to clients and other duties as assigned.

Position requires an Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one plus years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. BS in social services or related field preferred. Prior experience working with youth, especially homeless and/or at-risk youth. Having knowledge of community resources a plus. 

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, consent to background check and Children’s Division/Child Abuse screening, fingerprint screen, drug screen and have a valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). MVR must be free of violations that conflict with Synergy’s insurance policy. Position requires CPR, Med Tech certification and Chauffer’s License within 30 days from date of hire.

Competitive hourly rate of pay offered including shift differential for working evening/weekend hours of work.
