Associate Manager, Events

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage logistics for Kansas City Sports Commission (KCSC) national events
    • Serve as on-site liaison to national events (NCAA Championships, conference championships, USA events, etc)
    • Support the Director of National Events in the management of national events and the budget
    • Assist with site visits for potential events
    • Identify potential problems/issues in advance of events and clearly communicate that information to fellow events team members
  • Assist with planning, operation and execution of KCSC local events
    • Manage multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines paying close attention to details
    • Work with the events team to improve execution of events
    • Provide exceptional customer service when dealing with participants, volunteers, community partners, etc.
  • Oversee national and local event volunteer recruitment and management
    • Work with the marketing department to develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract new and retain existing volunteers
    • Create and manage events in our volunteer registration system, VolunteerLocal
    • Communicate information regarding volunteer positions and events to registered volunteers
    • Manage volunteer check-in and distribution on-site
  • Minimum of 2 years of events and/or sports event experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, verbal/written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Applicant should be in good health that is appropriate to the physical tasks required for event setup, which may include equipment assembly and lifting/moving heavy objects
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.  Demonstrated strong planning skills and decision making skills
  • Computer proficient
  • Ability to be flexible to work schedule, including hours, weekends, nights, and holiday
