Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary:
Promote and support the mission of Amethyst Place through volunteer coordination, donor database management, special event coordination and social media efforts. Primarily responsible for managing volunteer resources to assist in the delivery of the organization’s programs and services.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for outreach functions including volunteer engagement, faith community partnerships, communications and outreach, and community mobilization that lead to stronger community engagement and partnerships.
  • Serve as special-event coordinator and developer, working with volunteer committees, budget development, and revenue generation.
  • Recruit and train volunteers. Organize and coordinate volunteer appreciation events and identify new opportunities to engage and recognize volunteers.
  • Schedule clients for specialized programming and tutoring.
  • Develop, schedule and host community education and outreach activities.
  • Manage and update volunteer and donor database, including volunteer hours and contacts for churches, schools, community partners, media outlets, and legislative offices.
  • Maintain community partnerships with individuals and businesses for donations and volunteers.
  • Coordinate community events.
  • Maintain volunteer files and agency forms as required.
  • Supervise community service hours of clients.
  • Adhere to agency policies and work rules, including confidentiality and code of ethics.
Other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications:  Must be an energetic individual with initiative, imagination, strong organizational, strategic and interpersonal skills. Bachelor’s degree in human services, development, marketing, social work, public policy or related field required. Prior experience in volunteer management, corporate community relations, project management, community organizing or other related areas required. Experience with volunteer and special events coordination. Knowledge of Sales Force or other donor database preferred. Strong command and knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media marketing strategies. Ability to work a flexible schedule, evenings and occasional weekends. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must pass background check and drug test.
