SUMMARY:Let's Connect: Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Necessity is the mother of invention. When times demand it\, nonprofit professionals can innovate\, change\, and adapt to achieve any goal. Even still\, change is never easy. If you're ready to learn how your organization can pivot and pioneer new approaches\, then this discussion is for you. \n\n\n\nDuring this session\, you'll learn from organizations who were nominated for the Pivoting Pioneer Award at the 2021 Philanthropy Awards Luncheon. We've celebrated their accomplishments and now it's time to take a peek behind the curtain to understand what happened behind the scenes so that we can apply those learnings to our own organizations. \n\n\n\nIn the second part of the session\, we'll move into breakout rooms to encourage small group discussion and networking. You will have the opportunity to share your perspective\, ask questions\, and gain insight from your nonprofit peers. \n\n\n\nThis is a program of the Let's Connect: Virtual Discussion Series. \n\nSpeakers:\n\n\n\nNonprofit professionals know how turn obstacles into opportunities and make lemonade out of lemons. Join several 2021 Philanthropy Awards Nominees to hear how these organizations quickly developed new programs and services to meet the need in 2020. More than a recap of their awards submission\, these speakers will share a behind-the-scenes peek at what it takes to create new services in times of change. \n\n\n\nJill Gaikowski spent the first part of her career as a project manager on award winning accounts for Ad Agencies in New York and Kansas City. Before her return to HappyBottoms in 2016\, Jill served as Executive Director of Mothers & More\, a national motherhood membership organization. She was honored with the Ingram's Local Hero award in 2018 and led HappyBottoms to win several awards from Nonprofit Connect including the Pivoting Pioneer award for work done in 2020. \n\n\n\nKim Gasper is the Director of Fund Development at Harvesters The Community Food Network. Kim oversees and manages all fundraising programs\, including planning\, goal setting\, implementing and evaluating all fundraising activities to secure financial support and meet Harvesters' fundraising goals. Kim has nearly 20 years of experience in fundraising and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Missouri State University.\n\n\n\nSteve Scraggs has been in public education and nonprofit work for the past 25 years. In the public school system he served as a teacher\, building and district leader across 5 school districts in 3 states. He has been particularly successful supporting diverse communities and families with economic challenges. His present work at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City supports children's programs\, providing leadership and support for over 60 program sites. Steve has a bachelor's Degree in Education from Emporia State University\, a Masters Degree in Urban Educational Leadership from UMKC\, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies from the University of Missouri. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou!\n\nYour active participation is highly encouraged.
