The Black Infant Mortality Awareness Walk (BIMAW) is a powerful annual event dedicated to raising awareness about Black infant mortality and advocating for healthier outcomes for Black families. Black infants are still twice as likely to die before their first birthday compared to White infants, often due to preventable causes such as prematurity and low birth weight. At Uzazi Village, we know this is more than a statistic; it’s a call to action.
