About Us

Since 2005, AccessKC (formerly KC Medicine Cabinet) has facilitated access to basic health services for individuals with low incomes. For eligible individuals with a household income of up to 200% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL), our fully web-based voucher program covers 100% of the cost of emergency dental care, permanent dentures and partials, Durable Medical Equipment and supplies, hearing aids, prescriptions, and eye exams and glasses. ThriveKC, launched in 2026, covers the costs of the same services for working households at 200-300% of FPL. AccessKC also eliminates barriers to care through mobile optical and hearing care, including See to Succeed, which dispatches mobile providers to bi-state area schools to conduct on-site eye exams to students. This year, AccessKC will pay $1.75MM for 4,500 services for 4,000 area residents.

In 2026, AcruxKC awarded $180,000 in scholarships to 47 students enrolled at 18 nursing schools through the Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae and LA Hollinger Respiratory/Nursing funds. AcruxKC also administers restricted funds that support family practice residents, pastoral care, inpatient rehabilitation, and CME for medical professionals.

Since 2017, $2.13MM in Legacy Grants for Student Health have improved school communities through programs and purchases that address students' physical and mental health needs. New in 2023, Legacy Grants for Behavioral Health is a partnership that supports three safety net clinics' efforts to increase their capacity to provide behavioral health services.
