Clement Waters Retreat creates environmentally sound spaces designed to lift health and quality of life for Kansas Citians.
With help from Mid-America Regional Council, ServeKC and volunteers from across the metro, The Clement Waters team has blazed a safe walking trail for the neighborhoods located around a 4-acre forested vacant residential lot south of the Kansas City Zoo. The public green-space project has been dubbed "Clement Forest." Weekend trailblazing was enjoyed in summer 2018 by a diverse group of over 100 volunteers.
What's Next? Woodworking and Green Affordable Housing
Fiscal year 2019 holds the start of a woodworking venture made possible by already donated wood shop equipment and the fallen timber of Clement Forest. We are seeking further equipment investment from the Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority. Mentors from Sprint Accelerator and Kansas City SCORE are guiding the budding social enterprise owned and run by Clement Waters Retreat.
Guiding long-term action, the governing leaders of Clement Waters look forward to forming strategies for new projects, including the goal of making low-utility-cost affordable housing available to low-income families in need of financial stability.
