About Us
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City serves as a leader in youth development programming and advocacy efforts for young people across our community’s toughest neighborhoods. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City is to promote the development of self-esteem, values, and skills for boys and girls, ages 5-18, with special emphasis on youth from disadvantaged circumstances.
Our strategic vision is to keep 100% of our members on track for high school graduation with post-secondary plans in place. To keep us on track toward this vision, we implement a comprehensive, year-round educational focus for our programming. This Whole Child organizational approach enables us to support and supplement educational enrichment activities while also building life skills and core competencies that our members aren’t getting in school. Our point of view is that the same methodologies that make for effective academic teaching and training exist and are needed when providing teaching and training in youth social and personal development areas.
The Clubs are a safe place for youth where they have unfettered access to structured activities to keep their minds and bodies occupied and caring adults to provide guidance and serve as role models. Youth development programming offered by the Clubs fits within four core areas: Healthy Lifestyles, Education & Careers, Technology, and Public Speaking & Leadership.
