About Us
LEARN, founded in 2004, is a small, all-volunteer nonprofit with a big dream - to teach kids that they can make a difference in the world using the STEM skills they learn in our programs. Our mission is to:
? Provide kids ages 5 to 21 with rich, hands-on STEM programs
? Help our kids solve real-world problems, using the skills they learn in labs and classrooms
? Build technology and products that improve the lives of kids with special needs
? Help our kids gain confidence in themselves and their ability to conquer any challenge
? Prepare our kids for the endeavors they choose for themselves
Through our Geeks for Kids and Invent for Good programs, which are the focus of this business plan, we design and build custom, electric cars and other assistive devices for kids typically within the range of 1 to 12 years (and soon for kids up to the age of 18). Over 500,000 American kids under the age of five have mobility problems, and few have access to devices that give them free movement. There are even more school-age kids with movement limitations, and many of these kids also have difficulty obtaining mobility devices. We strive to get these kids racing – to give them the freedom to explore, learn and grow independently. In the following plan, you will learn how we have and will continue to make that happen.
