About Us
The mission of Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is to protect native habitats and wildlife while providing opportunities for people to discover and connect with nature.
Hiking trails
4 miles of hiking trails through prairie, forest, and riparian habitats are open to the public daily from 8 am to 5 pm.
Nature Center
Explore exhibits, live animals, and the gift shop in the Nature Center. Watch hummingbirds and butterflies seasonally on our hummingbird deck and watch birds at our bird viewing area.
School programs
We offer eleven school-based programs for ages Pre-K to 6th grade. Each program is designed to meet state education standards, includes an introduction to the topic and extensive time outdoors exploring our woods, prairies, and wetlands.
Other programs & events
We host birthday parties, Scout programs, and public programs throughout the year. Fairy Tale Forest is held annually in October and other special events can be found on our website.
