Tempel, Founding Dean Emeritus of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, and Professor Adrian Sargeant, Hartsook Visiting Professor at Avila University and Director of the Center for Sustainable Philanthropy at Plymouth University in the UK, are two of the world's most respected voices and researchers in fundraising and philanthropy. Both have been named to the prestigious The Nonprofit Times Top 50 Power and Influence list.
Professor Tempel will give a keynote on the twenty-year perspective of fundraising as a profession, followed by a presentation of current research in philanthropy from Professor Sargeant.

Professor Eugene R. Tempel
Professor Tempel is Founding Dean Emeritus of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and a Professor of Philanthropic Studies. He led the world's first school devoted to research and teaching about philanthropy. An internationally recognized expert on the philanthropic sector, he has four decades of leadership and fundraising experience. He helped found the school's precursor, the Center on Philanthropy, and was its executive director for 11 years, transforming it into a leading national resource. The author of several works in the field, he has won numerous awards, including being named by The NonProfit Times as the sector's first "Influencer of the Year" in 2013.
Professor Adrian Sargeant
Professor Sargeant is the world's foremost fundraising academic, publishing more than ten books and nearly 150 peer reviewed academic publications in the domain of individual giving, fundraising and nonprofit marketing. He was formerly the first Hartsook Chair in Fundraising at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He also holds a visiting appointment at the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, Queensland University of Technology. In 2011, he ran Growing Philanthropy summits in Washington DC and London drawing together leaders from the nonprofit communities in both countries to discuss the role that the sector itself might play in growing philanthropy.
