Apply for the Kemper Museum Docent Program!

Offer Valid: 04/15/2025 - 05/21/2025
Passionate about contemporary art and connecting with people of all ages? Join our Volunteer Docent Program!

We are currently recruiting a passionate group of art-enthusiasts to join our 2025 Volunteer Docent Program!

Kemper Museum docents and volunteers encourage visitors to engage with contemporary art and ideas, creating a sense of belonging for people from all backgrounds. Kemper Museum docents and volunteers are:

Curious: the museum's exhibitions and visitors continually change! Our docents and volunteers love to learn new things and meet new people.

Flexible: contemporary artworks explore, question, and invent: our tours and public programs do the same. In order to be innovative, we take risks, keep a sense of humor, and appreciate the unknown.

Collaborative: working collaboratively is a key part of a docent’s role. Docents and volunteers listen with interest, accept diverse views and share their thoughts freely and respectfully.

Inclusive: docents and volunteers contribute to an environment that welcomes and includes people of all backgrounds, consistent with the museum’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

No art experience is required to become a volunteer, just genuine interest in contemporary art and ideas, enthusiasm for making connections with others, and willingness to learn!

Three volunteer docent roles are available:

Museum Engagement Volunteer
Young Visitors Guide
Teen & Adult Guide

Applications will be accepted through May 21, 2025. Training sessions will take place on weekends in June, July, and early August.
