West iNd Connection (WiNc) exists to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and culturally vibrant community in Western Independence, Missouri. We believe that true belonging thrives through connection, and we aim to foster a positive, progressive culture through arts programming, neighborhood initiatives, and responsive community care.

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Grant Writer to join our team on a volunteer basis. Your work will directly help us fund programs that promote creativity, inclusion, and community well-being.

 


 

Role Overview:
The Pro Bono Grant Writer will work with WiNc leadership to identify, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and public agencies. This volunteer role is essential in helping us grow our impact and respond to emerging needs with dignity and compassion.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with our mission

  • Draft compelling grant proposals, LOIs, and supporting documents

  • Track submissions and reporting deadlines via a grants calendar

  • Collaborate with our team to gather stories, data, and program info

  • Assist with post-award reporting and compliance when needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Prior experience writing successful grant proposals (nonprofit sector preferred)

  • Excellent writing, research, and organization skills

  • Ability to commit 5–10 hours/month (flexible, remote)

  • Values inclusive community development and equity

  • Independent, collaborative, and mission-aligned
