Client Accounting Manager

Position Title: Client Accounting Manager 
Structure: Salary/Exempt
Supervisor: Vice President of Client Accounting
 
Position Purpose:  The Client Accounting Manager is a forward thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions. The Manager is a part of the Accounting Leadership Team and is responsible for supervising, managing, training and evaluating client accounting staff. 
 
Support Kansas City (SKC) is a nonprofit organization that enables other nonprofit organizations to focus on their missions by providing integrated expertise in financial management and other back office support in the greater Kansas City community.
 
Location and Culture: SKC is located in Merriam, KS. Staff currently has the option to work in a hybrid model of being in the office two to three days per week, and working remote the other days of the week. New employees will be trained in the office for the first 90 days.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
• Supervise, manage and evaluate five to six accounting staff members
• Provide technical assistance and expertise to staff in the delivery of client accounting services
• Review and supervise client accounting work
• Problem solve and work with accounting staff to find solutions
• Identify and address client accounting process and procedure improvement opportunities
• Manage client relationships 
• Prepare, review and file Form 990’s
• Prepare, review and file other tax related forms to include, but not limited to 1099’s and payroll tax returns
• Provide oversight and facilitate staff scheduling and training
• Provide education and training to clients regarding accounting best practices
• Provide guidance and expertise in the preparation of client compliance forms 
• Apprise VP of Client Accounting of all unusual situations, problems encountered, and special requests from clients
• Serve on the Accounting Leadership Team
• Offer perspectives and insights into areas of opportunity, and effectively implement areas of responsibility
• Seek opportunities with colleagues in other service areas to identify opportunities for service integration with clients
• Maintain familiarity with current issues and trends in nonprofit accounting
• Represent Support Kansas City at client events and in the nonprofit community
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of Support Kansas City training materials for nonprofit training activities
 
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree 
• Three or more years working in the accounting field
• Supervisory experience 
• QuickBooks experience 
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
• Proficient knowledge of standard accounting practices and bookkeeping
• Proficient knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Power Point and Excel
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated high level customer/client service and response
• Maintains Confidentiality
• Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien
• Pass all background checks 
 
Compensation and Benefits: This position is full-time with an expectation of an average of 40 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and allows for some remote work options. Salary range is $65,000 to $70,000 and will be commensurate with experience. This position receives 17 days paid time off annually and 10 paid holidays per year. SKC covers 80% of employee medical benefits, and provides a 401K match, and life insurance.
