Advancement Specialist

Posted: 10/01/2026

Help power the work that unlocks what’s possible for students.

Are you someone who loves keeping things organized, supporting others, and being the person who helps all the moving pieces come together?

Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City is looking for an Advancement Specialist to join our team!
This role helps power the day-to-day work that makes our Advancement work happen. From maintaining accurate donor records and processing gifts to supporting events, grants, and team coordination, you’ll help ensure important details are handled with care and follow-through. Your work will contribute to an exceptional experience for the donors and stakeholders who engage with JAKC.

Some days may involve pulling a donor report and preparing acknowledgment letters. Others might include helping coordinate an event, tracking a grant deadline, updating information in our CRM, or welcoming a visitor to our Youth Learning Lab. If you enjoy a variety of work, attention to detail, working with people, and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, this could be a great fit.

What you’ll help make happen
You’ll play an important role in keeping the systems, details, and day-to-day processes behind our Advancement work organized and moving forward. You’ll make an impact every day as you:
  • Keep donor information accurate and accessible by maintaining records across our database systems.
  • Ensure gifts and acknowledgments are handled smoothly through accurate processing, timely follow-up and strong attention to detail.
  • Equip the Advancement team with information and resources by preparing reports, donor lists, invoices, and other materials.
  • Keep fundraising events organized behind the scenes by supporting registrations, vendors, and logistics.
  • Support grant administration by helping track deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission details.
  • Create a welcoming experience at JAKC’s Youth Learning Lab by supporting front desk operations and serving as a helpful first point of contact for guests.
  • Keep important team and board processes moving through administrative coordination and follow-through.
What will help you thrive
You don’t need to come in as a fundraising expert. What matters most are the strengths you bring to the work and how you approach it. This role is a great fit for someone who:
  • You naturally bring order to a lot of moving pieces.
  • You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities and deadlines, figuring out what needs your attention next.
  • You follow through and take pride in making sure things get done well.
  • You communicate in a way that helps people feel informed, welcomed, and supported.
  • You look for solutions and ways to make things work better.
  • You enjoy being part of a team, while also feeling confident owning your work.
  • You’re curious and ready to learn, especially when it comes to new systems, processes, or ways of working.
A variety of prior experiences can translate well into this role. Administrative support, customer service, donor relations, fundraising, nonprofit operations, or other roles where you’ve kept people, information, and details moving forward can all help prepare you for success.

Why this role matters

This role helps make strong Advancement work possible.

While much of this work happens behind the scenes, the impact is felt throughout the organization. By keeping information accurate, processes organized, and priorities moving forward, you’ll help provide the foundation that our Advancement team relies on to deepen relationships, engage supporters, and generate the support that fuels JAKC’s mission.

And at JAKC, that work connects to something bigger: helping young people build the confidence, skills, and connections they need to access an opportunity-filled future.

Ready to take the next step?

If this sounds like a role where you could thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
