Philanthropy Officer - B.E. Smith Family Center

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of strategies for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual donors to the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation (AHKCF) in support of the Britain Development and Early Learning programs at the B.E. Smith Family Center. The Officer will lead the annual fund, campaigns, planned giving efforts, and support fundraising communications, events and other special projects.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Cultivate, solicit and steward individuals and organizations affiliated with the B.E. Smith Family Center resulting in gifts to support capital and programmatic campaigns and initiatives
  • Lead fundraising strategy and solicitation for the AHKCF event, Tinsel and Tidings, which showcases and benefits the B.E. Smith Family Center programs (Britain Development and Early Learning) and families
  • Secure annual, major and planned gifts from individuals and organizations with the goal of raising $1.5-$2 million annually through direct solicitations in face-to-face meetings and other forms of communication
  • Lead fundraising strategy and solicitation for capital expansion or new facilities for Britain Development and Early Learning programs.
  • Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions while successfully executing the AHKCF Strategic Plan initiatives
  • Execute a stewardship cycle continuum of identification, cultivation, plan development, solicitation and stewardship resulting in meaningful gifts
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 100+ individual donors, organizations and prospects
  • Identify and qualify new gift prospects, and cultivate and maintain relationships as appropriate
  • Support the acknowledgement of all gift donors appropriately and complete contact reports for all donor interactions
  • Develop individual donor strategies, along with materials, to realize, renew and upgrade donor gifts
  • Utilize broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising, including continuing education and remaining current in best practices
  • Work with Associate Executive Director to set personal work goals
  • Work with Event and Stewardship Specialist to acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition and events.
  • Attend, participate in, and assist with implementation of Foundation, B.E. Smith and AdventHealth events and tours, which may be held during working hours, evenings and/or weekends
  • Manage the intake and solicitation of in-kind gifts
  • Represent the Foundation team and model excellence in team leadership and collaboration
  • Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Minimum three years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a strong portfolio and proven ability to secure individual and corporate gifts while meeting objectives
  • Ability to inspire donor confidence
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM
  • Team player, able to maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituents
  • Ability to work in partnership with volunteers who have influence in the community
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to acquire knowledge and details about AdventHealth projects
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
  • Hospital or healthcare fundraising experience
  • Experience with the developmentally disabled children and their families
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree                   
  • Three or more years of position-related experience
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
  • Master's Degree
  • Five or more years of position-related experience
