Executive Director
Position Summary
Executive Director position for Tri-Ko, a nonprofit organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Tri-Ko is located in Osawatomie, Kansas, adjacent to the Kansas City metropolitan area, serving a three-county region. Notably, Tri-Ko has had only four Executive Directors in its 50-year history. The current Executive Director will retire after 18 years, leaving behind a vibrant organization. The Board of Directors seeks an Executive Director who is passionate about the mission and has seasoned leadership and management skills to navigate public policy changes and sustain high-quality services.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Executive Director is the chief administrative officer subject to the supervision of a nine-member Board of Directors and is responsible for administrating all Tri-Ko affairs. The agency serves approximately 158 people with a $7.2 million budget and 101 employees. Services include - day programs (employment, recreation, transportation), residential programs, case management, and nursing services.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: three years of experience in a position in human services with financial and direct supervisory responsibility; a bachelor’s degree in liberal or business arts from an accredited university (or work equivalency); evidence of a stable employment history and progressive career advancement; and an unblemished record of ethical conduct in professional settings.
Preferred qualifications: five years of experience in managing I/DD services as an executive director or assistant executive director; a master’s degree in business, health, public administration, or related field from an accredited university; evidence of leadership experience in change management; experience living or working in a small community in the Midwest; and state legislative advocacy experience.
The starting base salary is $120,000, plus additional benefits, including health insurance, retirement, leave, tuition assistance, and student loan forgiveness for eligible employees. Additional benefits are negotiable as part of total executive compensation.
