Executive Director, Lazarus Ministries KC

For more than 30 years, Lazarus Ministries KC (LMKC) has been a place of connection and care. Through The Café, The Boutique, and Sojourner Health Clinic, we provide hot meals, essential items, and free healthcare in a welcoming, dignity-centered community supported by staff and volunteers.
Position Summary
The Executive Director leads LMKC with vision and mission-driven focus. This role advances our mission, stewards key relationships, ensures operational and financial strength, and fosters a culture of compassion and excellence. Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director collaborates with staff, volunteers, and partners to sustain and grow LMKC’s impact.
Key Responsibilities
Mission & Strategic Leadership

Lead with integrity to uphold LMKC’s mission of compassionate service.

Guide strategic direction with the Board and staff.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture rooted in dignity and hospitality.

Build partnerships that expand LMKC’s reach and impact.
Board Relations & Governance

Serve as primary liaison to the Board with clear communication and strategic insight.

Support recruitment, training, and engagement of Board members.

Partner with the Board to ensure strong governance aligned with LMKC’s mission.
Fundraising & Community Engagement

Lead development efforts, including donor relations, grants, sponsorships, and the Rise Up event.

Represent LMKC publicly to strengthen community awareness and support.

Oversee donor stewardship to ensure gratitude and transparency.

Build relationships with individuals, congregations, and local businesses.
Financial & Operational Management

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.

Ensure responsible resource use and compliance with nonprofit standards.

Supervise staff leadership across The Café, The Boutique, and Sojourner Health Clinic.

Maintain systems for measuring outcomes and improving efficiency.
Program & Volunteer Leadership

Ensure programs are compassionate, high-quality, and responsive to guest needs.

Support staff and volunteer coordinator in creating a welcoming environment.

Encourage collaboration across all program areas for wraparound care.

Promote continuous evaluation and improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or related field preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and financial management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities with a collaborative management style.
- Commitment to LMKC’s values of compassion, dignity, and community.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. LMKC offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and professional development support.
