COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT MANAGER 

 
Kansas City PBS – is seeking a Communications & Engagement Manager to lead and elevate the voice of our public media organization. This dynamic marketing role is perfect for a creative strategist and communications pro who’s passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and making a meaningful impact across the Kansas City region.
 
Salary Range: $72,100-$74,200
 
 What You’ll Do: 
• Craft and manage the monthly program guide from concept to delivery. 
• Own the station’s earned media strategy, including press releases, pitches, and media relations. 
• Lead crisis communications planning and ensure consistent messaging across platforms. 
• Supervise the Events Coordinator and oversee execution of all engagement events. 
• Represent Kansas City PBS at public events and develop strategic partnerships across the community. 
• Write high-impact promotional content across print, digital, and broadcast. 
• Support internal stakeholders with messaging alignment and strategic communication. 
• Drive visibility and trust in the station through authentic outreach and storytelling.
 
 Who You Are: 
• A natural storyteller with outstanding writing and editing skills. 
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
• Confident in public speaking and representing an organization to diverse audiences. 
• Knowledgeable in AP Style and fluent in communications best practices. 
• Experienced in media, PR, or journalism (3–5 years preferred). 
• Passionate about community connection and public service media. 
 
What You Bring: 
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. 
• Proven track record in communications strategy, media outreach, and publication management.
 • Management experience and/or bilingual skills are a plus.
