Learning and Development Trainer

The Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness (GKCCEH) serves as the HUD-designated Lead Agency for the MO-604 Continuum of Care (CoC), which encompasses Jackson and Wyandotte counties. GKCCEH is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented professional to serve as a Learning and Development Trainer

The Learning & Development Trainer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering training programs that support staff knowledge, performance, and compliance. This position will design and update training materials, manage training content and assignments within the Learning Management System (LMS), provide in-person and virtual training, and offer ongoing support to staff as needed. This position requires familiarity with HUD terminology, HUD-funded programs and project types, and HMIS software and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

The duties listed below represent the primary responsibilities of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Develop, create, and maintain training resources, presentation and  instructional materials.
  • Review and update existing training materials to ensure information remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with current policies, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Create easy-to-understand guide sheets, reference materials, and other training documentation to support staff in their day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Upload, organize, assign, and maintain training courses and materials within the organization's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Assist HMIS staff in maintaining accurate training records.
  • Provide in-person and virtual training sessions for new and existing staff.
  • Adapt training approaches and materials to meet the needs of different audiences and learning styles.
  • Provide follow-up training, coaching, and technical support as needed to reinforce learning and address questions or knowledge gaps.
  • Work with internal teams and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop appropriate learning solutions.
  • Translate policies, procedures, and technical information into clear and understandable training content.
  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Monitor feedback from training participants and use that feedback to improve training materials and delivery.
  • Stay current on relevant HUD terminology, program requirements, project types, HMIS processes, and organizational procedures.
  • Perform other training, documentation, and support duties as assigned.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement conversation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 2–4 years of Experience developing and delivering employee training, educational programs, or instructional materials.
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Familiarity with HUD terminology, HUD-funded programs, and various HUD project types.
  • Familiarity with HMIS software and related processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain policies, procedures, and technical concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of experience.
  • Familiarity with Coordinated Entry, HMIS, and data-driven strategies in homelessness response.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and promoting equity-focused solutions.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff and subject matter experts.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with HUD programs and HMIS in a professional setting.
  • Experience with HMIS Software (CaseWorthy)
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and training best practices.
