Vice-President of Business Development
Organization Summary: Formed in April 2013 by two friends searching for genuine impact, Uncover KC (UKC) focuses on building bridges between those who want to improve their community and those who need help doing so. Since that launch, UKC has connected over 80,000 volunteers and helped them complete more than 230,000 service hours, leading to over $5.8 million in valued impact for local organizations. This collective impact is made possible through our civic engagement services and programs.
Position Summary: For this multi-site and multi-program organization, the Vice-President of Business Development has an externally facing role that will focus on increasing UKC brand recognition and financial growth. Duties include coordinating with client leadership, sales prospects and networking professionals; building and managing business development trends and plans; proposing new business ideas to improve organizational revenue. There also is a heavy emphasis on team management and development, driving program and service sales and establishing standards of performance across all programs. Reporting to the UKC President, this role will be responsible for the operational success of UKC by developing new and growing current relationships with community partners.

Compensation Range: $73,000 annual salary plus full benefits packaging (upwards of $15,000)
Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Identify and research potential clients for UKC volunteer management and corporate social responsibility services, as well as sponsorships for UKC real world learning programs.
- Create and implement processes and policies to support the overall business development of the organization’s two prominent services and education program sponsorships.
- Track, identify and add qualified prospects through the organization’s sales CRM software, Hubspot.
- Make and give presentations to prospective clients and internal leadership.
- Drive the end-to-end sales process, including the tracking and reporting on the status of proposal components.
- Negotiate contract terms with clients and communicate with appropriate stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit sales contracts.
- Work with UKC leadership to ensure contracts are executed as agreed
- Develop new and maintain client relationships and partnerships.
- Conduct ongoing market research to build and manage strategic partnerships focused on growing business.
- Gather useful information from customer and competitor data.
- Coordinate with program and service teams to develop mutually beneficial proposals and sales plans.
- Work with the pricing department to create and adjust rate proposals.
Leadership
- Cultivate positive, working relationships with existing and new clients with the goal of ensuring sufficient space, resources and access to services.
- Develop and implement strategies that will maximize the synergies among programs, services and staff.
- Represent UKC in a positive, professional manner within the Kansas City community.
Team Management
- Schedule, inform and attend monthly committee meetings.
- Provide timely communications to assigned committees and update organizational scorecards.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the UKC President.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
- High school diploma or higher preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in nonprofits, business development or charitable donations required; sales or fundraising experience required.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, etc.
- Knowledgeable of sponsorship and/or business development planning and execution.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and task-focused
- Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines weekly, sometimes daily
- Displays good judgment, takes initiative and is eager to learn as much as to teach.
- Responsive to direction and feedback; comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for UKC’s mission.
Work Environment:
- This position operates primarily in a professional, collaborative office environment that is fully accessible.
- This role uses standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, scanners).
- The position is required to talk, hear, stand and walk, and to handle, feel and reach.
Work Schedule and Benefits:
- 40 hours of work per week.
- $73,000 annual salary plus full benefits packaging total (upwards of $15,000).

- The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though work is a hybrid of remote and location-based.
- Occasional early morning or evening meetings plus weekend work depending on client commitments, as well as weekly travel in the Kansas City Metro area.
