Embracing Decision-Making & Feedback to Drive Nonprofit Results | 3-Part Series
The pace of our world is speeding up. That means leaders now need to make decisions and provide feedback faster than ever to stay relevant, take advantage of time-sensitive opportunities, and most importantly, drive results. Your organization likely has a strategic plan, but do you have frameworks for making day-to-day decisions and providing continuous feedback?
If you're ready to create an environment that promotes positive decision-making, join Dan Billingsley, Chief Encouragement Officer and Principal of MissionKarisma, for an interactive three-part series that will give you the tools you need to embrace action and drive results.
- September 12 - Decision-Making Psychology and Barriers to Effective Implementation of Decisions: We'll start by looking at decision-making in organizations as a process. We will examine decision fatigue issues (exacerbated by the pandemic), decisions made to seize upon opportunities or threats, why individuals, groups and systems can be challenged with making decisions and other data and insights to help us in our work. Then, we'll break out in small groups for discussion of how organizations, teams and individuals can analyze the barriers and find ways to better understand one another in the process. Participants in this session will gain and understanding of what works and doesn't work when it comes to nurturing more decisive, results-driven actions.
- September 19 - Creating and Sustaining a Framework to Enhance Decision-Making: For the second part of this series, we will take a practical look at the structures nonprofits should have in place to encourage more decisive actions and better results. During this session, we'll discuss how to implement authority structures and answer the questions: "What is a board-level decision, What is a CEO-level decision, What is a staff-level decision, and What is a team-level decision?" Then, we'll discuss policies and procedures to help nonprofits guide decision-making. These include typical policies such as gift acceptance, financial policies, etc., but also discuss other procedures when policies are nebulous or insufficient. Participants will break into small groups and use threat and/or opportunity guides to map out decisions so that participants walk away with tools to assist in decision-making, both large and small.
- September 26 - Nurturing a Culture of Evaluation and Feedback to Improve Decision-Making Processes and Results: Organizations work best when communication and evaluation structures are in place to help us guide decision-making long-term. The final session will help teams create feedback and evaluation models to enhance measurement of the results of a decision. This will go beyond typical "post-mortem" meetings and create better frameworks for analysis of decisions.
This session is ideal for board members, executives, managers, and any direct service staff. At all levels of an organization, the decisions you make affect the people you serve.
