Grant Ethics: Organizational Capacity and Readiness
Issues of ethics abound when grant professionals examine their organization's readiness to apply for grants. For example, you may ask yourself if the grant is aligned to the organization's strategic plan or is the organization chasing money and causing mission creep? Are you applying for funding opportunities that are a really good match for the organization or are you just sending out grants to anyone with funding? Is it unethical to reach out to foundations when you don't provide programs in their priority service area?
Join Julie Assel, GPC and President/CEO of Assel Grant Services, to learn what ethical codes do and don't say about each of these questions.
Participants in this session will learn how to:
- Carefully ask hard ethical questions to organization leadership
- Help your organization stay true to its ideals and values when searching for additional funding
- Create a strong process which builds organizational capacity and doesn't just eliminate options
October is National Fundraising Ethics month, and now is the perfect time to ask important questions about your grant management practices. Whether you are a board member on the governance committee or a brand new grant coordinator just entering the field, this is a must-take session for anyone who will be making decisions about whether or not to apply for a grant.
