Open House
The Parkinson’s Exercise & Wellness Center (PEWC) invites you to two festive events to mark the completion of the facility where over 240 Parkinson's fighters are getting stronger every day through exercise, support, and camaraderie. With the recently completed 12,000 square foot expansion, the PEWC is the largest and only facility in the community dedicating all their resources and time to supporting people living with the disease and their loved ones. The celebration kicks off with a Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, June 3 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to commemorate this milestone, tour the facility, engage with members of our community, and enjoy refreshments. The party continues at the free family-friendly Second Annual Community Open House on Sunday, June 7 from 1-4 p.m. Play mini golf, see a classic car show, and enjoy food from Two Guys and a Grill and The Golden Scoop. Guests are invited to attend both celebrations and see first-hand how the expanded center is making a difference in the Greater Kansas City Parkinson’s community. The state and national Parkinson’s crisis: Currently, an estimated 20,000 residents in the metro area are living with Parkinson's disease. Alarmingly, Kansas now ranks second nationally for new diagnoses, and Parkinson’s has become the most frequently diagnosed neurological condition, surpassing Alzheimer's. Community-driven programs like the PEWC play a vital role in providing essential care and support immediately following a diagnosis. Learn more at www.thepewc.org.
