Saturday STEM Seminar - 'Research in High Energy Nuclear Physics' Presented by Dr. James Bowen
Learn about contemporary research in high energy nuclear physics and the heavy ion experiments going on with the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
Bowen is a nuclear-trained submarine officer, currently working with the NRL Plasma Physics Division, as well as a physics professor at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, as well as a member of the High Energy Nuclear Physics research group at the University of Kansas. He has an impressive background that includes several degrees, along with a Ph.D. in experimental high energy nuclear physics. He is a Commander for the Navy Reserve, has completed Navy Nuclear Propulsion training, spent nine months in residence at CERN in France/Switzerland, and worked for some time as a civilian physicist at the Naval Oceanographic Office.
