stART the Conversation Art Exhibition
Each year in May, we celebrate Mental Health Month. It is a time to raise awareness and erase the stigma associated with mental illness. This May, Wyandot Behavioral Health Network will work to stART the conversation around mental health. We want to amplify the voices of individuals with lived experience, as well as the voices of mental health advocates, through art. We believe that art has the power to tell stories when words fall short. And for individuals with lived experience of mental illness, the stigmatizing language surrounding mental illness can make it difficult to fully explain what they experience. For many of our consumers and others who live with mental health challenges, art has played a meaningful part in their recovery journey. Wyandot BHN is excited to announce that we will host the stART the conversation art exhibition on Friday, May 20 as part of the Downtown KCK Third Friday Art Walk in the Strawberry Hill neighborhood. Please stop by The Velvet Nova, located at 705 N 6th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101, between 4 and 9 p.m. as we showcase the power of art as a tool for healing and advocacy in mental health. For artists interested in submitting a piece for inclusion in this exhibition, please visit http://www.wyandotbhn.org/events/2022-start-conversation-art-exhibition
