Board member
Type of Organization: Founded in 1988 as a 501(c)3 non-profit membership organization, the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) is guided by an executive board of directors, a medical advisory board and an executive director with a staff of one. The organization consists of patients, physicians, educators, health care workers, parents, relatives, friends and volunteers.
We are looking for someone with expertise in: Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Fund Development, and Strategic Planning
Desired industry affiliations or community connections: Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Fund Development, Law, and Finance
What is the designated term for board service? Three years with an option(s) for additional three year terms.
How often does your board meet? Quarterly
What personal or financial contribution is expected of each board member?
We ask each board member to give a gift of personal significance
Any additional board expectations:
- Be informed about the IETF mission, services, policies, and programs
- Prepares for board meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting materials
- Assists in developing a strategic plan to fulfill the IETF mission
- Volunteers for assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time
- Participates in fund raising activities of the IETF
- Actively supports the organization by becoming an IETF advocate
- Suggests possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the IETF
- Stays up-to-date on developments in essential tremor issues
- Follows conflict of interest and confidentiality policies
- Assists in carrying out the boards fiduciary responsibilities
- Ensure the organization is adequately managing its risks, either by insurance or other means, to ensure its continued existence
