Kanbe's Volunteer Engagement Committee
The Volunteer Committee plays a vital role in expanding Kanbe’s Markets’ reach through volunteer engagement, community participation, and corporate impact partnerships. This committee will serve as a network of passionate professionals who leverage their personal and professional connections to strengthen Kanbe’s volunteer base, deepen community involvement, and increase awareness of Kanbe’s mission to turn food loss into food access.
Members of this committee will act as champions for Kanbe’s Markets within their workplaces and professional circles—encouraging hands-on participation, planning engaging volunteer opportunities, and helping their companies and networks connect meaningfully to Kanbe’s mission.
Volunteer Committee members will:
-
Recruit Volunteers: Use their professional networks and community connections to recruit volunteers for Kanbe’s events, warehouse shifts, and special initiatives like Ugly Happy Hours.
-
Plan and Schedule Opportunities: Each member will coordinate at least one volunteer opportunity per quarter, working alongside Kanbe’s staff to ensure alignment with operational needs.
-
Corporate Engagement: Identify and nurture connections within their companies or organizations to promote Kanbe’s as a meaningful corporate volunteer and engagement partner.
-
Community Representation: Serve as ambassadors for Kanbe’s Markets, sharing the mission and encouraging participation at company events, community engagement fairs, and social impact activities.
- Advocate and Educate: Help spread awareness about Kanbe’s impact in increasing access to fresh, affordable produce across Kansas City, and inspire others to join the movement
- Have Fun and Build Community: Participate in Kanbe’s volunteer experiences and events with enthusiasm and teamwork, fostering a sense of community among volunteers and staff.
Members of the Volunteer Committee are likely community leaders who demonstrate:
-
A passion for Kanbe’s Markets’ mission;
-
An active involvement in their company’s community engagement or social responsibility programs;
-
A willingness to leverage their networks to create meaningful volunteer experiences;
-
And a collaborative spirit and commitment to strengthening community health and connection.
