Volunteer Treasurer Needed!
The Treasurer will serve as the primary contact for finance-related matters on behalf of SAVE, Inc.'s Board of Directors.
According to SAVE, Inc.’s Bylaws: The Treasurer shall have charge of the funds of the corporation and shall direct the preparation of an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements or other financial transactions of the corporation. The Treasurer shall ensure the deposit of all funds of the corporation in such banking institutions as may be designated by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall make reports to the President and to the Board of Directors whenever so requested by the President or the Board. The Treasurer shall serve as the chairperson of the Finance Committee.
The Treasurer serves as a member of SAVE, Inc.’s Executive Committee and in that capacity is responsible for assisting the President of the Board of Directors with management of the CEO. The Treasurer has more direct, albeit informal, responsibility for SAVE, Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Before being appointed Treasurer, the Treasurer must first be nominated by SAVE, Inc.’s Governance Committee to join the Board of Directors for SAVE, Inc. The Treasurer shall be chosen to join SAVE, Inc.’s Board of Directors for their demonstrated or potential ability to participate effectively in fulfilling the responsibilities of a Director of the Board, as outlined in the Director Roles and Responsibilities, as amended from time to time, and for representing or responding to the various needs of the community.
Significant accounting experience is required, including experience with audits and multiple accounting systems of record. Nonprofit experience (management or board) is preferred. Responsibilities include overseeing funds for a multi-fund agency with multiple locations. Funds include federal, state, local, and private funds. Solid experience as a manager and leader of people also required. Support for leadership of the Board of Directors, leadership of staff, and of affiliated organizations in the greater Kansas City community is expected. Work with a variety of individuals is required ranging from the Board of Directors, to staff, clients, and collaborating agency staff members. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as proficient computer skills are also required. The candidate must write and speak English, and be proficient with computer programs such as Word and Excel.
