Scholar Smarts Educational and Employment Systems - Advisory Volunteer Members

Do you have a passion for helping tutor under represented youth in our KCMO Urban Core?
We are seeking Advisory Volunteer Board Members for Scholar Smarts school to career and out of school time , community partner. We seek individuals that have bandwidth and time management skills to balance work life, family, and volunteer time. Prefer previous Board experience but not required. Scholar Smarts conducts college prep and employment ready workshops during weekends and sometimes after school hours . Locations are typically near the demographic we serve which typically in the urban core of Jackson County and Wyandotte County. Our volunteers are successful because there is a team like mentality, they have an organic passion for supporting,  and enhancing the organizational structure that operates like "boots in the trenches". Our volunteers are valued for time and commitment, you choose which committees and tasks that align to background and experience. Meetings are required quarterly, most are virtual, some are in person. Average monthly volunteer time can average 10 -18 hours per month. Must have transportation to assist at scheduled community activities or college based workshops. More importantly, advisory board volunteers are successful when they have empathy, a nurturing behavior, compassion, and the ability to work with youth who are challenged with systemic educational and income barriers.
