Accounting Associate
About Us: Join us at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and contribute to our mission of enhancing charitable giving in our community! We rely on a meticulous financial system to serve our donors in their charitable giving. The position is a part of the team that keeps the system running smoothly by processing all incoming and outgoing financial transactions. This full-time position reports to an Accounting Manager and is classified as nonexempt/hourly. Training will be in the office and once the ability to successfully operate independently is proven, the candidate will be able to work one day a week from home.
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Accounting Associate to join our team. In this role, you would help track, process, and record deposits and payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The primary responsibilities include check and gift letter printing, scanning the daily deposit, and database entry for all transactional activity.
Key Responsibilities:

Check and Gift Letter Printing: Print and distribute AP vouchers, grant, and scholarship checks as directed. Reconcile checks printed daily and prepare necessary files for check release approval. Print and mail gift letters acknowledging receipt.

Data Entry: Enter contributions and payment transactions into our databases accurately.

Mail Processing: Handle daily mail workflow, including receiving, sorting, distributing incoming mail, electronically logging checks and cash, and scanning checks for deposits.

Interdepartmental Interaction: Collaborate with other teams regarding the processing of gifts, grants and AP voucher-related questions.

Additional Duties: Monitor check stock and printer toner, place orders as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.
Objectives:

Support the department’s goals by meeting daily processing deadlines within a fast-paced finance department while adhering to established standards.

Strengthen and grow relationships with our donors through timely deposits, payments, and receipts.

Serve the in-office needs for contributions and disbursements tasks.
- Grow skills in additional processes through cross-training.
- Education & Experience: Associate degree with at least two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous accounting experience is a plus.

Technical Skills: Excellent data entry skills, basic Excel skills (data entry and formatting), and experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Communication: Ability to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Adaptability: High technical aptitude and ability to learn new software quickly and thoroughly.
- Collaboration: Ability to operate in a highly collaborative environment while working independently and being self-motivated.

Regularly complete tasks at a computer terminal.

Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for periods of 30 minutes to an hour.

Ability to walk to/from printers throughout the day and make inter-office deliveries.
