Bookkeeper

First Act Theatre Arts is seeking a part-time bookkeeper.

Mission:

First Act Theatre Arts inspires excellence, fosters character, and builds community through theatrical arts training, performance, and fellowship in a Christian faith-based environment.

Reports To: The Executive Director

Job Overview: Performs general accounting duties, such as maintaining a complete set of financial records, keeping track of accounts, and verifying the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions.  Handles payroll processing, writing of checks, making sure payments are made on a timely basis.  Also makes sure taxes are paid on time and handles year-end tax processing, such as 1099’s, W-2’s, and working with an accounting firm to create the 990 at the end of the fiscal year.

Hours:  Flexible schedule.  Hours fluctuate on average between 8 and 10 per week depending on needs.  

Location:  Work can be performed in the First Act Theatre Arts office or in a hybrid arrangement of home and office.  


Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Paying bills and writing checks in a timely manner.

  • Running payroll on a monthly basis.

  • Paying contractors as needed.

  • Paying and filing monthly, quarterly, and yearly taxes including annual W-2’s and 1099’s.

  • Entering deposit information

  • Preparing monthly financial reports for board meetings.

  • Reconciling bank and credit card statements.

  • Aiding in implementation of best practices in handling financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of relevant work experience

  • Working understanding of accounting principles. 

  • Ability to work with accounting software, such as Quickbooks desktop and online versions.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products, especially Microsoft Excel.

  • Detail-oriented, honest, and discreet.

  • Good with numbers.

  • Able to be flexible as changes in contract staffing and priorities occur.

  • Knowledge of theatre and/or non-profit sector helpful, but not mandatory.

Job Type: Part Time, 8-10 hours a week at $19.00-$22.00 an hour
