Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity (501c3)
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

BENEFIT SNAPSHOT

  • Salary Range: $57,000 - $61,000
  • Paid Time Off starting at 12 days per year (increases with tenure)
  • 11 Paid Holidays annually

    • Appointments (i.e. dentist, dmv, vet, etc.) that are no more than two hours are provided with pay and without deducting PTO for team members, up to three per month.

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced accounting professional to join our finance team and oversee the financial operations of our non-profit organization. The successful candidate will manage comprehensive accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy and compliance, and provide strategic financial guidance to support Alpha Phi Omega's vision and long-term sustainability.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the organization's goals and objectives
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget, review financial reports, and ensure accurate and timely financial forecasting and analysis
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, general journal entries, and provide audit support/management
  • Prepare and review financial statements
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the executive team and board of directors for informed decision-making
 
Financial Management and Reporting
  • Oversee all financial transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and reporting guidelines
  • Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and analysis for management, board, and external stakeholders
  • Reconcile SAGE & other software systems, investment reports, bank statements, and Payroll/Benefit reports to various general ledger accounts; investigate and correct discrepancies as needed
  • Prepare numerous month-end journal entries and reports from the various SAGE systems
 
Payroll and Tax Compliance
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and PTO management
  • Handle payroll processing and related tax compliance
  • File quarterly wage earnings reports and 941 filings
  • Complete year-end W-2's, W-3's, and 1099's
  • Manage monthly and quarterly tax withholdings for state and local jurisdictions
  • Process EFTPS payments and maintain compliance with employment laws
 
Risk Management and Internal Controls
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Assess and update financial policies and procedures as necessary to minimize risk and maximize financial integrity
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies
 
Additional Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Manage cash flow and banking relationships
  • Handle payroll processing and related tax compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions
  • Support budget preparation and monitoring
  • Mentor and guide the finance assistant in daily operations
  • Provide information as needed for third-party audit
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and reporting guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and achieve organizational goals
 
Desired Qualifications
  • 2-5 years’ experience in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Advanced proficiency in Sage 50/Peachtree or similar accounting software
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Proven experience in financial assessment and process improvement
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
