About Artists Helping the Homeless: AHH was created in 2008 to fill a gap in the homeless services safety net with transportation.  During the rides, other individual and systemic gaps were identified and innovative solutions created that benefit both unhoused people and the agencies that assist them.  AHH assists 1,500-2,000 people annually across the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area and Douglas County (Ks) with individually tailored services.  AHH staff assist hospitals, recovery facilities and other organizations in identifying, accessing and following through with services for unhoused people being released.  Six AHH housing facilities provide basic needs and wrap-around services so men in recovery and re-entry can hit life’s “re-set button.”  AHH’s unique approach that assists people as the progress from agency to agency, filling gaps and removing barriers, earned it the title, “Safety Net for the Safety Net.”
