ScrapsKC - Director of Developement

Director of Development Position Description

The Director of Development leads all fundraising efforts for ScrapsKC, including annual giving, major gifts, events, and future capital campaigns. This role develops and executes strategies to grow individual, foundation, and corporate support while stewarding existing donors. The Director works closely with the Executive Director, Board, and staff.


Key Duties

Fundraising & Strategy

  • Develop and execute annual and long-term fundraising plans

  • Grow annual giving, major gifts ($2,500+), and community support

  • Research prospects and manage donor pipelines

  • Oversee annual appeals, direct mail, and fundraising campaigns

  • Research, write, and manage grants and reporting

  • Support fundraising events and outreach materials

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Cultivate, solicit, steward, and recognize donors

  • Build strong relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors

  • Serve as an ambassador and represent ScrapsKC externally

  • Contribute content to newsletters and annual reports

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain and oversee donor database and gift acknowledgements

  • Track, analyze, and report fundraising performance

  • Provide regular reports to leadership and board

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support as needed

  • Attend ScrapsKC events and occasional weekend activities


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6–8 years of fundraising/community engagement experience

  • Passion for ScrapsKC’s mission and education equity

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills

  • Experience with donor-centered fundraising

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities

  • Comfortable with public speaking and presentations

  • Leadership experience and ability to work independently and in teams

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and fundraising databases

  • Reliable transportation and ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to pass background check and drug test

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $75,000 - 99,999
