Stewardship and Scholarship Mangaer
Purpose
The Stewardship and Scholarship Manager plays an integral role in fostering philanthropic loyalty to the University by building and strengthening relationships with donors and donor prospects. The Scholarship and Stewardship Manager is responsible for implementing and coordinating comprehensive donor relations, scholarship management and a stewardship system.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for all acknowledgments and substantive reports to scholarship and endowed fund donors.
- Develop and implement plans to promote all scholarship opportunities and criteria to both external and internal constituencies.
- Assists all Advancement staff in building and strengthening relationships with donors and prospects.
- Lead staff in campus donor signage – existing and new construction.
- Partner with Office of University Advancement staff members to evaluate the comprehensive stewardship plan for effectiveness. Identify opportunities to enhance or add to current stewardship activities.
- Other Duties as Assigned – perform other duties, consistent with the incumbent’s skills and qualifications as required by the University in support of the department.
The Stewardship and Scholarship Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Advancement. This position generally has no direct supervisory responsibility although they manage a large number of volunteers and students throughout the year.
Challenges and Opportunities
- This role requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on coordination of donor recognition, stewardship events, and scholarship fund management. Key challenges include managing multiple donor groups, ensuring accurate fund reporting, and collaborating across departments to align scholarships with donor intent.?

- Plan and coordinate donor recognition and stewardship events – Bravo and Scholarship Mass & Brunch.
- Collaborates with the Office of Financial Aid, Office of Admissions, and Academic Departments to ensure scholarship funds are correctly identified and awarded annually.
- Manages a portfolio of donors (predominantly, but not exclusively scholarship/endowed fund donors) for solicitation and stewardship.
- Develop solicitation strategies for donors giving to scholarships/funds in partnership with the annual fund.
- Manages scholarship groups: Hummel Scholars, St. Luke’s Auxiliary Scholars, Neville Scholars, R&C Fund, Bloch Scholars, and new groups as added.
- Manages the AMU DEI Fund process.
- Works with a team on the annual scholarship and fund process with St. Luke’s Foundation in collaboration with our nursing staff.
- Manages the annual memorial and tribute giving program.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 2 years of proven success in project management and event planning; preferably in the non-profit sector.
- The successful candidate must have the personal qualities that exemplify the University’s Jesuit character, mission, and commitment to excellence
- Strong oral and written communication skills to clearly articulate the mission of Rockhurst University.
- Skills in Excel, databases, Microsoft Word and other software as needed.
- Attention to detail, deadlines and handling large amounts of data.
