Beginning in 1993, as an outgrowth of a civic and business leadership program of the Kansas City, Kansas, Chamber of Commerce, 20/20 Leadership started with a budget of $3,500 as a nine-month program for 36 juniors attending nine high schools in Wyandotte County. Armed with funding from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and Garth Brooks’ “Teammates for Kids,” in 2003, 20/20 Leadership became an independent 501(c)(3), serving juniors and seniors across both sides of the Kansas/Missouri state line. Today, 20/20 Leadership provides a continuum of programming for freshman through senior high school students. In 2019-20, we served over 600 young people and counted almost 4,000 alumni, involving those alumni in service on the Board, staff, its Scholarship Committee, and as trainers and mentors.
