Part-Time Preschool Teacher
Position Description:
Preschool Classroom Teacher (T/W/Th 8:40-2:45)
Preschool Classroom Teacher (T/Th 8:40-2:45)
PE Teacher (T/Th 9-12)
These part-time positions will begin no later than August 24, 2026 and run through May 20, 2027 with the possibility of teaching a 4 week summer camp session. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Responsibilities:
* Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a class of 16-18 children.
* Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
* Plans with co-teacher and implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule.
* Works directly with co-teacher to complete all required parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
* Provides an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creativity, exploration and decision-making by the children.
* Ensures that all class bulletin boards are current and reflect the curriculum taught in the classroom.
* Provide parents with an overview of classroom material through weekly newsletters and monthly calendars.
* Provides children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.
* Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.
* Maintains Ward Parkway Preschool's professional attitude and work behavior.
* Assists in other capacities as determined by the Directors.
* Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions as determined by the Directors.
* Observes all rules and regulations of Ward Parkway Preschool as well as the local, and state regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
* Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the staff handbook.
Qualifications: Candidates MUST hold these qualifications. Please do not apply for this position if you do not have these qualifications.
* Degree in elementary education, early childhood or a related field including 120 college semester hours, 12 of which must be in early childhood, youth development or child/family related courses OR at least 3 years minimum experience working in a Preschool setting.
* Superb communications skills -- oral and written
* Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
* Both indoor and outdoor environments are utilized in our preschool facility. Depending upon activities and season, may be required to be outdoors for regular, prolonged activities.
* Experience in classroom environment
* Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
* Must be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first 3 months of employment.
