Description
Front Porch Alliance works together with Kansas City’s Eastside children and families to meet their changing needs at home and in school. Our youth programs are centered on financial literacy, job readiness, tutoring, social-emotional health, and STEAM.
Responsibilities
- Execute and coordinate robotics curriculum, in line with First Lego League Robotics.
- Serve as teacher and head coach of robotics teams.
- Recruit program participants. Engage parents and guardians of participants.
- Lead and recognize volunteer coaches.
- Lead at least three afternoons/evenings a week with robotics teams.
- Coordinate community engagement for teams, for example, field trip, guest speakers, collaboration with other teams.
- Track program outcomes and volunteers’ hours in the database.
- Schedule and lead teams in annual competition(s).
- Communicate with families, teachers, and partners.
- Build relationships with local schools and organizations.
- Support other youth programming in the summer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience working with children K-6th grade and schools.
- 1-2 years of experience teaching is strongly preferred.
- Experience with the STEAM curriculum. Preferred experience with First Lego League, Coding, Math and/or Science curriculum.
- Experience managing teams, experience managing volunteers a plus.
- Experience working in Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Proven ability to work well as a team and with diverse communities.
- Proven interpersonal, organizational skills. Proven written and verbal communication.
- Commitment to the mission of Front Porch Alliance.
Hours Part-time, 20-hours a week. Tentative schedule Mon-Fri 2:30 to 6:30 pm. Additional hours may be required during competition.
Compensation Salary range: $19-22.00 and hour
