Site Coordinator (Part-Time)
Lead to Read KC, a local literacy program dedicated to improving basic reading skills by third grade, is a great place to work! Lead to Read KC provides reading and mentoring support to students in high-need Kansas City classrooms. Our Reading and Mentoring program works with community volunteers who donate one lunch hour a week to read for 30 minutes, one-to-one with their students.
Site Coordinators work with the program team to coordinate volunteers, students, teachers and administrators to ensure the reading sessions are positive, meaningful experiences. Lead to Read KC will train Site Coordinators to ensure they are successful during the programming.
Job Purpose: To manage the delivery of Lead to Read KC’s in-school and on-site reading, mentoring program, and serve as a liaison between Lead to Read KC and our partner schools/organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:

Report to Program Manager and work with other site coordinator(s)

Manage weekly Lead to Read KC reading sessions

Work with teachers and school administrators to set-up first sessions and ensure students are ready for sessions with materials

Manage volunteers assigned to Site Coordinator's school including but not limited to: weekly emails, on-site management, problem solving, tracking and managing attendance

Contact volunteers and flextras to encourage participation

Other tasks as assigned or identified

Work onsite at a school to get all students/volunteers matched up and reading in a session
Time expectations:

4-12 hours per week, depending on number of schools assigned

School Year commitment (August - May)

Will require availability T, W, or Th between 11:00-1:30 as well as very occasional afternoons

1.5-3 hours per session
-
1.5-3 hours of emails and roster updates weekly per school

1 hour weekly LTRKC meetings, admin., communication
Qualifications & Benefits:
Lead to Read KC staff enjoy a flexible and hybrid work environment. This role pays $20/hour (non-negotiable) including up to 1 hour of travel time per assigned school site.

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job: This position requires office work. Communication and interaction with others are required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and report. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
