Youth Journeys Coach

Description    

Front Porch Alliance works together with Kansas City’s East Side children and families to meet their changing needs at home and in school. Our youth programs are centered on financial literacy, job readiness, tutoring, social-emotional health, and STEAM. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute the day-to-day activities of assigned youth programs, both in school and after school setting. 

  • Recruit program participants.  

  • Support coordinator in training and recognition of volunteers.

  • Assign and monitor duties for all support staff and volunteers in assigned programming.

  • Assist in coordinating and implementing youth programs and events.

  • Assist Youth Journeys Coordinator in conducting program evaluation with participants.

  • Act as teacher/coach to program participants.

  • Regularly track program outcomes and volunteers’ hours in the database.

  • Participate in community outreach.

  • Build relationships with youth and community members.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications    

  • 1-3 years of experience working with children (K-12) and schools.

  • 2 years of experience with social emotional teaching is strongly preferred.

  • 2 years of experience with working with and designing curriculum. Strongly preferred experience with STEAM and career exploration, focus in robotics, filmography and/or financial literacy.

  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and management.

  • Experience with Google Docs, Excel, and Word.

  • Proven ability to work well as a team and with diverse communities.

  • Proven interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Proven written and verbal communication.

  • Commitment to the mission of Front Porch Alliance.

 

Hours    Full-time, salaried. Including scheduled evenings and some Saturdays.

 

Compensation Salary range: $40,000 - $46,000 with health insurance, IRA matching (3%), generous PTO package, mileage reimbursement and ongoing training opportunities
