Part Time Respite Coordinator
Position Overview: As the SOAR Respite Coordinator at SOAR Special Needs, you will play a vital role in providing essential respite services to families with individuals with special needs. This position focuses on coordinating and executing two key programs: SOAR Social Clubs and the monthly SOAR R&R Respite nights. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, you will build and lead volunteer teams while ensuring exceptional care and meaningful experiences for participants and their families.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, experience managing events and budgets, and a passion for serving the special needs community. This position requires flexibility, including some evenings and weekends, to support program activities and events.
Responsibilities

Oversee all Respite (R&R) and Social Club programs and events.

Plan, organize, and coordinate program schedules, activities, and special events.

Develop and manage program budgets.

Monitor and manage program expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers and program staff as needed.

Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

Coordinate event logistics, including locations, supplies, transportation, and participant needs.

Communicate effectively with participants, families, volunteers, and community partners.

Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Support the organization's mission and represent SOAR Special Needs in a professional manner.

Oversee SOAR CRM – DonorPerfect – ensure all volunteers and participants are entered into the system

Oversee making volunteer SOAR assignments

Coordinate participant registration and family communication

Ensure proper volunteer-to-participant ratios and safety protocols

Manage all promotion requests and facility requests

Ensure events are updated in timely manner on the website

Coordinate with partner churches and facilities for respite locations

Collaborate with the SOAR Executive Director in finding church partners for SOAR R&R

Track attendance and maintain participant records in the SOAR CRM system
Skills/Experience
-
High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience in program coordination, event planning, recreation management, social services, education, or a related field preferred.

Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Experience with budgeting and expense tracking.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic technology platforms.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Passion for serving individuals with special needs and their families.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Experience working with individuals with special needs strongly preferred
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and participate in recreational activities for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Ability to travel to program locations and events as needed.
Benefits
Part-time employees working 20-29 hours per week receive 5.5 days (44 hours) of PTO annually. In addition, part-time employees are eligible for 4 hours of holiday pay for the designated company holidays.
Additional Information:- This position averages 20 hours per week and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, summer camp weeks, and special events throughout the year.
- Wage is $18-$22 per hour depending on experience
