About Sheffield Place
Sheffield Place is in Kansas City, MO and empowers homeless mothers and their children to heal from trauma and become self-sufficient. Our organization provides compassionate, trauma-informed services that help families build stability, hope, and lasting success.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the organization.
- Articulate and champion Sheffield Place's mission, values, and goals.
- Foster a positive, mission-driven organizational culture.
- Engage stakeholders in decision-making while ensuring effective leadership and accountability.
- Direct organizational operations and major projects.
- Supervise daily activities and ensure effective service delivery.
- Ensure staff have the training, technology, supplies, and support needed to perform their roles.
- Stay informed of trends and innovations in the nonprofit and human services sectors.
- Oversee budgeting, cash-flow management, and financial planning.
- Maintain financial accountability, transparency, and strong internal controls.
- Assist with audits, compliance requirements, and understanding of IRS Form 990 reporting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and risk-management practices.
- Lead fundraising strategy and execution.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, funders, volunteers, and community partners.
- Serve as a public ambassador and spokesperson for the organization.
- Increase public awareness through media engagement, public speaking, and special events, including fundraising galas.
- Partner closely with the Board of Directors.
- Provide timely communication regarding organizational goals, opportunities, and challenges.
- Support board operations, planning, committee work, and policy compliance.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, staff development, and performance management.
- Ensure effective human resources practices and compliance.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, teamwork, and excellence.
- Experience in homelessness services, mental health services, or substance use disorder treatment.
- Knowledge of nonprofit governance, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and community partners.
