Director of Operations

  • $70,000 - $95,000, based on experience

Position Summary: This is a full-time, exempt, 40-hour week position with primary work hours being Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.  This position will have some evening and weekend hours.  Position will be required to travel to and attend local and state events, conferences, and donor relation activities.  This position will report to the Executive Director and work in collaboration with the Executive Director, Crisis Services Director and Human Resources Director.
Job Duties: The Director of Operations is a public facing position working with the Executive Director to oversee and optimize non-clinical operations within HeadQuarters Kansas including grant management, community awareness, fundraising and marketing.  Responsibilities include developing administrative policies and procedures, supervising staff and contract vendors, implementing process improvement, and using data to enhance operational efficiency, analytics, and reports.  This position will support organizational leadership and collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop relationships and drive overall mission awareness and financial success. 
Position Expectations:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with organizational leadership and manage staff toward the accomplishment of strategic goals;
  • Able to represent HeadQuarters Kansas and themself with integrity and professionalism; 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative culture;
  • Valid Driver’s license, clean driving records, and reliable transportation; 
  • Must be able to pass State and Federal criminal background checks; 
Responsibilities include:
  • Work with the Executive Director in seeking new diverse funding streams through grant writing, fundraising, sponsorships, and community partnerships;
  • Lead branding and messaging in conjunction with communication team to plan and design strategic marketing materials, events, and fundraising appeals;
  • Manage public relations, marketing, and communication efforts, including the website, newsletters, and social media platforms;
  • Promote awareness and understanding of behavioral health needs and the importance of crisis support services within the community;
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with the Executive Director and department managers to align center operations and priorities and develop consistent, effective use of organizational resources and expertise;
  • Support adaptation of strategies to meet community needs;
  • Assist Executive Director and community leaders in identifying, cultivating, and onboarding prospective board members;
  • Reinforce financial responsibility and sound stewardship across departments;
  • Assist with planning, performance, and continuous improvement efforts across the organization;
  • Collaborate with Statewide 988 Partnership Team on current awareness priorities, campaigns, and events;
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to center managers to ensure strong performance and effective decision-making;
  • Reinforce shared expectations for program quality and growth across organization.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in a business, marketing, communications, or related field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in leadership and supervisory role;
  • Working knowledge of and experience with fundraising;
  • Working knowledge of communications, events, and development practices, preferably including experience in an organization providing direct human services;
  • Effective organization and time management skills;
  • Ability to provide attention to detail;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite programs;
  • Experience with public presentations and speaking.
Preferred Education:
  • Experience as a grant writer;
  • Experience in developing fundraising strategies;
  • Experience working with donor software;
  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization.
