Executive Director

Career Opportunity – Executive Director

What makes an organization one of the best places to work in Kansas City? It could be the more than 700 pets we see every week and the joy of sending them home happy and healthy. It could be our skilled and caring staff who share the deep emotion that comes with keeping families and their pets together. Where else is having your face licked the reward of a job well done?

Pet Resource Center of Kansas City (formerly Spay and Neuter Kansas City) is looking for our next great leader. Reporting directly to our Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads a dynamic team of nearly 50 employees and countless volunteers. Since 2002, we have done great things for our community of people and pets but we can do so much more.

Your leadership experience in a diverse environment, with multiple service offerings and a highly engaged team of animal welfare professionals might be the perfect fit. If you think you might be the one, put on your running shoes and get ready to roll. We have a lot to do.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience to include all or a combination of the following:
Recruiting, hiring and retaining a talented workforce that includes clinical professionals, administrative and support staff, technicians, and a large volunteer force.
Deep understanding of strategic leadership, planning and execution under the guidance of a Board of Directors, advisors, and a staff of nearly 50.
Having worked with or an understanding of the wonderful communities we serve, along with their unique needs and challenges.
Nonprofit experience or understanding at a very high level.
Experience in animal welfare and/or a clinical setting where emotions can run high and empathy is a must.
Measurable experience, either direct or in the leadership of others, in donor stewardship, funding communities, and creative fundraising.
Financial accountability for a nonprofit organization of similar size or P&L responsibility in a for-profit setting.
The willingness, skill, and temperament to be our highest profile ambassador in the community.
An unimpeachable reputation in the Kansas City community.
Most importantly, this is a leadership position. We have an extremely talented staff and some of the best veterinary professionals in the business. We need a dynamic leader with enthusiasm and skill to take us to the next level.
